Can I get financial assistance to go to school?

The Alberta Land Surveyors' Association is committed to financially recognizing students who wish to pursue careers in surveying. Scholarships are available from both the Association and the J.H. Holloway Scholarship Foundation.
 
The Alberta Land Surveyors' Association and the J.H. Holloway Scholarship Foundation offer scholarships to students in undergrad studies at university.  
Technical school students in Alberta
And technical school students outside of Alberta


University of Calgary-ALSA Academic Achievement
(from Alberta Land Surveyors' Association)

$2,500 to a student entering third year in cadastral studies based on academic achievement. The successful candidate is selected by the University of Calgary.
 
University of Calgary-John Deyholos Memorial Scholarship
(from J.H. Holloway Scholarship Foundation)

$2,500 annual scholarship to a continuing undergraduate student in the Department of Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary. The award is based on grades earned in ENGO 455: Cadastral Surveys and Land Registration Systems (minimum B+ grade required) and a minimum grade point average of 3.00. In memory of John Deyholos who was one of the founding directors of the J.H. Scholarship Foundation.

University of Calgary Scholarship
(from J.H. Holloway Scholarship Foundation)

$2,500 annual scholarship to a fourth year student in Geomatics Engineering based on academic merit and participation in university activities.

University of Calgary-NAIT Transfer Student
(from J.H. Holloway Scholarship Foundation)

$1,250 annual scholarship to a NAIT graduate in Survey Technology enrolled in the University of Calgary program in Geomatics Engineering. This award is based on academic merit in the technical school program and will be awarded to subsequent to acceptance into the program.

Applications, together with official transcripts from NAIT, must be submitted to the J.H. Holloway Scholarship Foundation within 60 days of commencement of university studies (i.e.: November 1 of each year).
 
University of Calgary-SAIT Transfer Student
(from J.H. Holloway Scholarship Foundation)

$1,250 annual scholarship to a SAIT graduate in Survey Technology enrolled in the University of Calgary program in Geomatics Engineering. This award is based on academic merit in the technical school program and will be awarded to subsequent to acceptance into the program.

University of New Brunswick Academic Achievement
(from the Alberta Land Surveyors' Association)

$2,500 annual scholarship to a University of New Brunswick student who has completed or enrolled in two of the four of the cadastral surveying option courses (Survey Law, Urban Planning, Land Economy & Administration and Site Planning). This award is based on the academic achievement of the candidate.

Lethbridge College Academic Achievement

$1,500 annual scholarship to a Lethbridge College student entering their second year of the geomatics engineering technology program. This award is based on academic achievement. There is no application form for this scholarship as it is awarded by Lethbridge Community College.

Lethbridge College Academic Achievement

$1,000 annual scholarship to a Lethbridge College student entering their second year of the geomatics engineering technology program. This award is based on academic achievement in the first year.

NAIT Academic Achievement
(from Alberta Land Surveyors' Association) $1,500 annual scholarship to a NAIT student entering their second year. This award is based on academic achievement. There is no application form for this scholarship as it is awarded by NAIT.

COGS Academic Achievement

$1,000 annual scholarship to a College of Geographic Sciences-Nova Scotia Community College student in the Geomatics Engineering Technology diploma program. This award is based on academic achievement demonstrated in the Survey Technician program.

CONA Academic Achievement

$1,000 annual scholarship to a College of the North Atlantic student in the Geomatics Engineering Technology (Co-op) program entering their third semester of studies. This award is based on academic achievement.

Red River College Academic Achievement
(from the Alberta Land Surveyors' Association)

$1,000 annual scholarship to a Red River College student in the Geomatics Technology diploma program entering their third semester of studies. This award is based on academic achievement.

SIAST Academic Achievement
(from the Alberta Land Surveyors' Association)

$1,250 annual scholarship to a Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology student in their Geomatics Technology diploma program entering their second year studies. This award is based on academic achievement. There is no application form for this scholarship as it is awarded by Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology.

ALSA Members Scholarship
(from J.H. Holloway Scholarship Foundation)

$1,000 award to an active member of the Alberta Land Surveyors' Association enrolling in a program leading to the award of a related degree (award to be made upon graduation).
