I don’t want to become an Alberta Land Surveyor but still want to work in surveying, what choices do I have?

There are many career choices for people who want to work in geomatics but don’t want to pursue a professional designation.

Many people work for land survey firms as survey technologists or geomatics technologists. They may work in the field as part of a survey crew or in the office working as a draftsperson. Individuals involved in geomatics may be working with global positioning systems, geographic information systems, 3D modelling and many other hi-tech applications.

You may be interested in becoming a member of the Alberta Society of Surveying & Mapping Technologies or an associate member of the Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association.
