Can I become a member of the Alberta Land Surveyors' Association while still in school?
Yes. Please complete the form to receive information such as:
- ALS News, the Association’s magazine which is published quarterly in March, June, September and December. It is great to find out about current topics and issues in professional land surveying in Alberta.
- Notices of professional development seminars throughout the year on various topics.
- Opportunities to attend regional meetings are held in September/October, January/February and April in Calgary, Edmonton, Grande Prairie and Medicine Hat. This is your chance to meet land surveyors and recent graduates in an informal setting and ask about employment, careers and various other questions you may have.
Please fax or mail the student membership form to the Association office.

Student Membership Criteria (from ALSA Bylaws)
- Council may upon application, confer membership in the Association as a Student Member to any individual who is enrolled as a full time student and who currently complies with one or more of the following criteria:
- enrolled in a geomatics program or a related academic program;
- enrolled in a high school with the intentions of entering a geomatics program or related academic program;
- has an interest in geomatics.
- A Student Member is not required to pay an annual fee
- A Student Member may attend any annual general meeting, special meeting or regional meeting of the Association and is entitled to discuss any motion or resolution before the meeting, but may not vote and may not propose any motion or resolution to the meeting.
- A Student Member may sit as a member on any non-statutory committee of the Association.
- A Student Member may use the designation “Student Member/Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association” (Student Member/ALSA)
- Membership may be canceled by Council
