Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

The Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association (ALSA) is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in its role as the regulator of the land surveying profession in Alberta.

We believe in:

  • A culture that embraces the uniqueness of individuals and a variety of experiences and perspectives. Our culture must respect and be representative of the public we protect.

We commit to:
  • Actively working to recognize, develop and promote initiatives that support equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Developing and executing an EDI action plan that aims to build respectful relations across and among land surveyors, stakeholders and the public we serve.

Our EDI goals are:
  • To be viewed among our peer land surveying associations and land surveyors as leaders in our EDI practices.
  • To evolve the reputation of land surveying as a career option for all people regardless of their gender, age, culture or background.
  • To create a culture where we are recognized for our commitment to EDI principles in the way we speak, work and act.

Equity Diversity Inclusion (EDI) Current State Assessment Report and EDI Action Plan

The Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association commissioned an independent consultant’s report to not only look at the current state assessment of the ALSA’s EDI efforts but also the best practices of other regulators.

The report identified 40 action items for the Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association and the ALSA is committed to prioritizing each of the recommendations and working towards their implementation.
