Nominations for the Professional Recognition Award Now Open

The Professional Recognition Award may be awarded to an Alberta Land Surveyor for outstanding contribution or service to the profession of surveying or society as a whole.

Nominations may be made by any two Alberta Land Surveyors or honorary life members.

In order for a nomination to be considered complete, letters from each nominator must be received by the Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association by January 15, 2025. The letters must indicate, based on the criteria outlined below, why the nominee is deserving of the Professional Recognition Award. There is no nomination "form."

Current members of Council are not eligible to receive the Professional Recognition Award.

The Executive Committee shall review all nominations for the Professional Recognition Award. The Executive Committee shall consult with the executive director, registrar and director of practice review when considering nominations to ensure there are no past or current professional issues. The Executive Committee may discuss any nomination with any person or organization to independently verify the nominee’s contributions or services.

If the Executive Committee is of the opinion that an Alberta Land Surveyor should receive the Professional Recognition Award, the Executive Committee will make that recommendation (along with the reasons for the recommendation) to Council. Council must vote unanimously in favour of the nominee receiving the award in order for the Professional Recognition Award to be granted.
