Regulation Amendments Approved

The Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association's proposed amendments to the regulations under the Land Surveyors Act were approved by cabinet on October 8, 2019.
The membership approved the amendments to the regulations on September 27, 2017 and the ALSA has been waiting for cabinet approval since then.
The Professional Practice Regulation has been amended to allow a majority of the voting shares of a surveyor’s corporation to be held be professional land surveyors and not just Alberta Land Surveyors.

The Examination & Training Regulation has been amended to allow for maternity leave, removing the requirement that the oath of office must be sworn before a judge and establishing a maximum of three attempts on any one examination.

The Discipline Regulation has been amended to remove references to things such as double-registered mail while the Code of Ethics Regulation was made gender neutral.
