Annual General Meeting

This is your invitation to attend the 110th annual general meeting at the Fairmont Banff Springs from April 25 to 27, 2019.

Early Bird Registration - Congratulations to Terry Chiddy! He is the winner of two nights’ accommodation at the Fairmont Banff Springs with breakfast for two. 

This year, our keynote speaker will be Jeremy Ward. Also on Thursday there will be a series of first nations sessions, health sessions and technical sessions. New this year, Thursday lunch will be in the trade show area. New members, 25 and 50 year pins and other award presentations will take place on Friday evening. At night, visit us at the Icebreaker to view the exhibits and renew acquaintances.

On Friday, the business meeting begins. The exhibitor lunch will provide you with the opportunity to visit the exhibitors in the trade show area. New this year, is the Awards Gala. This will be the time to congratulate all the newly commissioned ALSs and other members of the profession. Past president's will also be recognized at this time.

Saturday will be the election and installation of the new Council, the Food for Thought Lunch (formally Past President's Lunch) and will include speaker Cristina Daniel who will speak on the Indigenous/Canadian Relationship: An Overview “Indigenous 101.” On Saturday night, we say goodbye to outgoing President Bruce Clark and welcome the new president Steve Yanish. Step out on the dance floor and dance the night away with Blackboard Jungle.

Trade Show

We would like to invite you to participate in our trade show at our AGM on April 25 and 26, 2019.

Exhibitor Participation
We have added an additional lunch on Thursday in the exhibit area this year. The Exhibitors' Lunch will be on Thursday, April 25 along with the Icebreaker in the evening. The Beef and Bun lunch will be on Friday, April 26. Forty-five minute coffee breaks are scheduled for Thursday morning and afternoon and Friday morning. All of these events will take place in the exhibit area.

The cost per booth is $1250.00 plus GST.
Full refunds, less at $75 administrative fee, will be honoured on cancellations received by March 25, 2019.

The 2019 AGM Reports and Recommendations package is now available.

Please bring the package with you to the regional meetings and the AGM.

This year, the report contains all of the committee reports, a more detailed Registrar's Report, information about six recommendations to be voted on at the AGM and a list of committees that you can volunteer for.

A question arose at the recent regional meetings regarding who is eligible to vote on Recommendation #3 at the AGM because it is not an amendment to the act, bylaws or Manual of Standard Practice..Alberta Land Surveyors, retired members and honorary life members may vote and propose motions and amendments to Recommendation #3.

Associate members, affiliate members and pupils may vote but not propose motions and amendments.

The following list of nominations has been received by the Registrar of the Alberta Land Surveyors' Association pursuant to Section 30 of the Bylaws of the Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association.

The election will take place on Saturday April 27, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.

The following offices are to be filled:
Vice-President, one-year term
Secretary-Treasurer, three-year term
Two members of Council, three-year term
